What does a website cost?

Ask what a website costs and you usually get a question back. Here instead are the five things that set the price, three examples with numbers and what keeps running after launch. The prices are ours, so you have something to compare against.

The short answer

With us a one-pager costs a fixed €699. A company website with several subpages usually lands in the low four figures, a web app with login and data above that. Both we estimate after a conversation, before any work starts, and then bill €80 per hour against the agreed scope. New: the website subscription for €99 a month, with domain, hosting, ongoing changes and SEO care, no one-off price.

Why such a range? Because “a website” can be anything from a business card with a phone number to a customer portal. The number of pages is not the most important factor.

The five cost drivers

Five things set the price almost entirely. Answer them for yourself before the conversation and you get a more precise estimate.

  • Content: are text, photos and logo ready, or do they still have to be made? Missing content costs more time than the technology.
  • Scope: a one-pager, six subpages or thirty? Every page needs structure, copy and a reason to exist.
  • Features: contact form and map are standard. Booking, login, shop, interfaces to other programs are projects of their own.
  • Design: an existing look with logo and colours is adopted. A new look is design work that comes before the build.
  • Languages: every additional language means translation, its own addresses and language links. The effort grows with every page.

Three examples with prices

These are the three scopes that come up most often with small businesses.

SCOPE FOR WHOM PRICE
One-pager, up to six sections Trade business, practice, freelancer with no site or an outdated one €699 fixed
Company website, one page per service, team, references, directions Businesses with several services that want to be found for each by scope, usually low four figures
Web app with login, data, interfaces Customer portal, booking, internal tool by scope, estimate before start

What is in the price and what is not

The one-pager includes: a conversation about goals and customers, a review of the existing site, five to ten search terms, a look at three competitors, design for phone and desktop, your text and images with a polish, contact form, imprint and privacy policy as templates, the technical SEO basics, launch on your domain and one round of corrections.

Not in the price: writing copy from scratch, photos and logo, domain and hosting, additional languages. We say that before the quote, not on the invoice.

What a website costs per month

After launch two items remain: the domain, renewed yearly at the registrar, and hosting. Both run in your name, not ours, so you can switch at any time. What they cost depends on the provider and is in our estimate.

Maintenance is optional. A static site without a CMS needs hardly any care, because nothing ages that opens security holes. If you want ongoing changes, we agree that as its own scope.

Page builder or have it built?

A page builder is cheaper to start and online in an afternoon. The price comes later: the site loads slowly, looks like a thousand others, and if you want to leave the platform you take nothing with you. For a site that stays unchanged for two years and does not need to be found on Google, that is still fine.

Having it built pays off as soon as the site should bring enquiries. Then loading time, one page per service, clean addresses and copy in your customers' language matter. No page builder gets that done without you doing the work yourself.

Common questions

What does it cost to have a website built? +

€699 for a one-pager with us. Company sites with several subpages usually land in the low four figures, web apps depend on scope. The estimate comes before we start.

What does a 10-page website cost? +

That depends less on the number of pages than on whether the content exists. Ten pages with finished text and images are a project of a few days. Ten pages whose text, photos and structure still have to be created take a lot more.

What does a web designer cost per hour? +

We bill €80 per hour and say in advance how many hours it will be. With fixed prices like the one-pager the hour does not matter to you.

What should a website cost per month? +

Domain and hosting, both in your name. The amount depends on the provider. Maintenance is only added if you want it.

Can ChatGPT build my website? +

A draft, yes. What is missing is everything around the text: domain, hosting, a form that actually delivers, imprint and privacy policy, loading time and findability.

How long does it take? +

A one-pager is usually live within two weeks once text and images are there. For larger sites we name the date with the estimate.

Have a website built

Packages, process and four references on the service page. Or describe your project to us, the estimate comes before we start.
